Privacy policy

This policy covers what Froshix, owned and operated by Akea, LLC ("we", "us"), collects about you, why, and what control you have over it. It applies whenever you browse froshix.com, buy from us, or write to us. Plain language throughout, privacy should not require a law degree.

One thing worth saying up front: we sell digital books, so we never ask for a shipping address. Your email address is the delivery address, which means we collect less about you than a physical store would.

When We Update This Policy

Changes get posted here with a new "Last updated" date. For anything significant, we aim to flag it on the site before it takes effect. Using the site after an update means you accept the current version.

What Information We Collect

Three sources: what you give us, what your browser tells us, and what our service partners pass along.

Information You Give Us Directly

  • Name and email address
  • Billing address and phone number, used to verify payment and calculate tax on digital goods
  • What you order — titles, quantities, order history
  • Account details, if you create one
  • Anything you write to us by email or contact form

Card numbers are the exception: they go straight to Stripe or PayPal over an encrypted connection and never touch our servers. See our Payment Policy.

Information We Collect Automatically

Standard technical data via cookies and similar tools: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and how you found us. Because delivery is digital, we also log download activity — when a link was issued, when it was used, from which IP, and how many times. That log is what lets us restore your access, spot a leaked link, and defend a chargeback.

Information From Third Parties

Limited data from partners who help us operate: payment and fraud-screening results from our processors, email delivery status from our mail provider, and aggregate analytics and ad-performance data.

How We Use Your Information

  • Process orders and deliver your download links
  • Resend links, reset download limits, and restore access to files you have bought
  • Answer questions and handle refund requests under our Refund Policy
  • Detect fraud, unauthorised card use, and abuse of download links
  • Protect the rights of authors and publishers whose work we license
  • Improve the site and decide what to stock
  • Send marketing emails where permitted, unsubscribe anytime via the link in any of them
  • Meet tax and legal obligations

Watermarking

Files you buy carry an invisible marker tied to your order reference. It contains no name, address, or card data, and it exists solely so a leaked file can be traced back to the order it came from. It does not track your reading.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Cookies keep your cart alive, power analytics, and measure ads. Manage or block them in your browser settings whenever you like, but note that blocking essential ones can break the cart or checkout.

Who We Share Your Information With

Only operational partners, only what they need:

  • Stripe and PayPal, for payments and fraud screening
  • Our email and download-delivery providers, who need your email address to send your links
  • Hosting, analytics, and advertising providers
  • Rights holders, in aggregate or anonymised form, for royalty reporting
  • Authorities, when the law genuinely requires it

We do not use fulfilment partners or shipping carriers, because nothing is shipped. Your address is never passed to a courier.

We do not sell your information for money. Some ad and analytics tools may pass identifiers in ways California law counts as a "sale" or "sharing", and you can opt out anytime on our Do Not Sell My Information page.

How Long We Keep Your Data

Only as long as needed: order and download records for the years tax and licensing rules require, account data while your account is active, support threads until resolved and reasonably archived. Keeping your purchase record is also what allows us to restore a lost file years later. After the retention period, data is deleted or anonymised.

How We Protect Your Information

HTTPS across the site, PCI-compliant payment processing, expiring download links, and access limited to those who need it. Honest caveat: no online system is risk-free and we will not pretend otherwise, but we collect little and guard what we hold.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may request access to your data, correction, deletion, a portable copy, or restriction of certain processing. Email admin@froshix.com with the subject "Privacy Request". We may verify your identity first, and we respond within the legally required timeframe. Note that deleting your order history also deletes our record of what you bought, so we would no longer be able to restore those files to you.

California residents: the CCPA/CPRA additionally gives you the right to know what we collect and why, to access, correct, and delete it, to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and never to be treated worse for exercising any of these rights — same prices, same service, always. Children's Privacy

Some of our comics and graphic novels appeal to younger readers, but our store itself is built for adult purchasers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has submitted theirs, tell us and we will delete it.

Third-Party Links

Links to sites we do not run — reading apps, social platforms, publisher pages — are outside this policy. Check their own privacy terms before sharing anything there.

International Users

Digital delivery means we reach readers worldwide, and Akea, LLC operates from California. Accessing the site from elsewhere means your data is processed in the United States, where data rules may differ from your country's. Using the site is your consent to that. If you are in the EEA or UK, you retain your GDPR rights and can exercise them at the address above.
